US Virgin Islands

Overview of Hawaii State

‌夏威夷州

Hawaii is the only archipelagic state in the United States, consisting of 132 islands in the central Pacific Ocean, with its capital located in Honolulu on the island of Oahu. Hawaii covers an area of 16700 square kilometers and is located at the crossroads of the Pacific Ocean. It is a hub for sea and air transportation between Asia, the United States, and Oceania, and holds an important strategic position.

Hawaii is composed of 8 large islands and 124 small islands, with a length of 3840 kilometers from northwest to southeast and an area of nearly 28000 square kilometers, ranking 47th among the 50 states. Hawaii Island is the largest island in the Hawaiian Islands, with an area of 10458 square kilometers, a saddle shape, and many volcanoes.

Hawaii has a tropical climate with little temperature difference between day and night, winter and summer, and beautiful scenery. It is a world-renowned tourist destination. The famous Mauna Loa and Kilauea volcanoes are located on the island of Hawaii, with Mauna Loa being one of the world's most famous active volcanoes.

The earliest inhabitants of Hawaii were Polynesians. The Kingdom of Hawaii was established in 1795 and was annexed by the United States in 1898. It became the 50th state of the United States in 1959. Hawaii is also known as the "Aloha State", with the hibiscus flower as the state flower and the Hawaiian goose as the state bird. Its motto is "Justice Never Dies".

The economy of Hawaii mainly relies on tourism, military, defense, agriculture, and education. The tourism industry is a pillar industry in Hawaii, attracting millions of tourists for sightseeing and vacation every year. Major tourist attractions include Waikiki Beach, Pearl Harbor, the Hana Highway in Maui, and the Volcano National Park on the Big Island. Hawaii is the headquarters of the United States Pacific Fleet and has multiple important military bases, which have a significant impact on the state economy. In addition, the main agricultural products in Hawaii include sugar, pineapple, coffee, nuts, and flowers, with the production of flowers and organic agricultural products continuously increasing in recent years.

Hawaii's economic situation ranks third in the 2024 median income ranking of all states in the United States, with a median income of $142000. However, according to a report by FOX5 News, Hawaii ranks 50th in the economic rankings, with high debt and a lack of growth in key economic sectors.

The central position of Hawaii's economic strategy is due to its unique natural resources and geographical location. The Hawaiian Islands consist of over a hundred islands, rich in natural resources and unique ecosystems, located in the middle of the North Pacific Ocean, nearly 4000 kilometers away from the mainland of the United States. This geographical location makes Hawaii a strategic hub for the United States in the Pacific region.
